Moving Existing Plumbing for New Retaining Wall Works
Our team attended a property in Croydon NSW 2132 to relocate existing plumbing services that were positioned where new retaining wall posts were planned.
Before excavation began, the existing copper pipework was traced to establish its location. A CCTV drain inspection was also carried out to check the existing drainage system before the services were exposed.
During excavation, damaged drainage pipework was uncovered, allowing the affected section to be repaired and relocated as part of the works.
Relocating the Existing Copper Pipework
A trench was excavated to expose the existing copper pipework running through the area of the proposed retaining wall.
The copper pipe was then rerouted away from the planned post locations, providing the necessary clearance for the retaining wall works to proceed without the new structure conflicting with the existing plumbing service.
Repairing and Relocating the Damaged Drainage
Further excavation exposed a damaged section of drainage pipework near the retaining wall works.
The affected drainage was cut out and the pipework rerouted away from the proposed post location. The relocated drainage was also supported before the excavation was backfilled.
Addressing the damaged section at the same time meant the drainage repair could be incorporated into the wider pipework relocation rather than leaving the existing damage in place.
Testing and Reinstating the Excavated Areas
Once the copper and drainage pipework had been relocated, the completed plumbing works were tested and commissioned.
The trenches were then backfilled with soil and the affected pavers reinstated. Construction waste was removed and the work area was cleaned on completion.
The finished works left the existing plumbing services clear of the new retaining wall post locations while also addressing the damaged drainage uncovered during excavation.
