Tracking Down the Source of the Gas Leak
Our team attended a property in St Marys NSW 2760 following a reported gas issue.
After speaking with the tenant about what had been happening, gas leak detection was carried out across the property, including the front yard, beneath the house and around the connected gas appliances.
Testing located the leak on the gas pipework leading into the subfloor area at the side of the property.
Excavating the Leaking Gas Pipe
Once the location of the leak had been identified, the affected area was excavated to expose the gas pipework.
This allowed the repair to remain focused on the section where the leak had been found rather than unnecessarily replacing other parts of the existing gas installation.
Replacing the Affected Gas Pipework
The defective section of gas pipe was removed and replaced, with the required fittings installed to restore the connection.
Once the pipework repair was complete, the gas supply could be safely reinstated and the installation checked before being returned to normal use.
Testing the Gas Supply and Appliances
After the gas supply was turned back on, the connected appliances were tested and commissioned.
The repaired gas installation was checked for further leaks, with no additional gas leaks detected at the completion of the work.
The project provided a targeted repair to the source of the problem: first locating the leak, then exposing and replacing the affected pipework before testing the gas system and appliances.
