Servicing the Existing Instantaneous Hot Water System
Our team attended a property in Newtown NSW 2008 to service and maintain the existing instantaneous hot water system.
The service began by checking the appliance for error codes and recording key operating information, including running hours, ignition cycles and temperature settings.
From there, the unit was opened for a more detailed service of the combustion, water and airflow components.
Cleaning the Burners, Heat Exchanger and Ignition Components
The burners were removed, washed and cleaned, providing access to the heat exchanger fins, which were also cleaned as part of the service.
The internal casing was inspected and cleaned before the flame rods and ignitors were removed and cleaned.
These components all play a role in the combustion and ignition process, so servicing them formed an important part of the overall hot water system maintenance.
Checking Water Flow and Temperature Controls
All water filters, including the in-circuit filters, were cleaned to remove accumulated material that could restrict water flow through the system.
The TPR valves were inspected and tested, while the pumps and thermostats were checked to confirm their operation.
The appliance and associated pipework were also inspected for water leaks.
Inspecting the Air Intake, Fan and Flue
The air intake and air spreader plate were inspected and cleaned, along with the combustion fan blades.
The system was checked for signs of contaminated combustion air, with no issues identified during the service.
The flue was also inspected for blockages to confirm the combustion exhaust pathway remained clear.
Checking Gas Pressures and Testing the System
Gas pressures were checked and recorded, with adjustments made where required.
Once the cleaning, inspections and adjustments were completed, the instantaneous hot water system was tested and commissioned.
The system was confirmed to be operating correctly at the completion of the service, with no water leaks or combustion-air contamination identified.
