Preparing the Plumbing for a Major Bathroom Renovation
Our team attended a property in Narrabeen NSW 2101 to complete plumbing disconnections, service alterations and new water and drainage rough-in works as part of a major renovation.
The project involved plumbing preparation across four bathrooms, the kitchen and laundry, with existing services needing to be disconnected and new connections established to suit the renovated layout.
The works were completed in stages, beginning with the removal and capping of existing plumbing before installing the new hot and cold-water services, mixers and PVC drainage.
Disconnecting and Capping the Existing Plumbing
The first stage involved disconnecting and removing existing tapware, water connections and drainage that were no longer required in their original positions.
Redundant services were capped off to allow the renovation works to proceed.
The existing water supply was also altered to maintain water availability at the property during construction.
Once these changes were complete, the modified services were checked for leaks and the work areas cleared for the next stage of plumbing.
Setting Out the New Bathroom and Wet-Area Plumbing
With the existing services prepared, the new plumbing layout was measured and marked out.
This established the required positions for the water and drainage connections throughout the four bathrooms, kitchen and laundry.
Setting out the pipework before installation allowed the new services to be positioned around the proposed fixture locations rather than the property's previous plumbing arrangement.
Installing New Hot and Cold-Water Services
New hot and cold-water feeds were connected to the existing water lines and extended to the required positions throughout the renovated areas.
Customer-supplied shower, bath and vanity mixers were also installed at their designated locations as part of the plumbing rough-in.
The new water pipework was positioned to suit the planned bathroom fixtures and secured in preparation for the next stages of the renovation.
Installing PVC Drainage for Four Bathrooms, Kitchen and Laundry
New PVC drainage pipework was installed to service the renovated wet areas, including all four bathrooms, the kitchen and laundry.
The drainage was routed to the required fixture locations and secured using clips and saddles to maintain the pipework in position.
Drainage flanges were also supplied and installed as part of the rough-in works.
These new connections established the drainage layout needed for the renovated bathrooms and other wet areas before the final fixtures and finishes were installed.
Testing and Completing the Narrabeen Plumbing Rough-In
Once the new water and drainage services were installed, the completed pipework was tested and commissioned.
The work areas were cleaned and redundant plumbing materials and installation waste removed from site.
The completed rough-in established the water supply, mixer connections and drainage infrastructure for the four bathrooms, kitchen and laundry, leaving the plumbing prepared for the next stage of the renovation.
