Converting Two Commercial Fryers from Natural Gas to LPG
Our team attended a commercial kitchen in Padstow NSW 2211 to convert two existing gas deep fryers from natural gas to LPG.
The work involved changing the fuel-specific components within both appliances, modifying the LPG supply connections and testing the completed gas work before the fryers were disconnected again ahead of the property's upcoming kitchen renovations.
Replacing the Natural Gas Injectors and Regulators
Both deep fryers were disassembled as required to access the existing gas components.
Four natural gas injectors were removed and replaced with customer-supplied LPG injectors. The existing natural gas appliance regulators were also removed and replaced with two LPG appliance regulators.
These components needed to match the new fuel supply rather than simply connecting the existing natural gas configuration to an LPG source.
Once the LPG components were installed, the fryers were reassembled for testing and commissioning.
Modifying the LPG Supply and Appliance Connections
The gas supply arrangement was also modified to accommodate the converted appliances.
The customer's existing LPG bottle was connected to the existing LPG main regulator, and the copper gas pipework at the regulator outlet was adjusted to suit the new connections.
Two new 20mm gas connection hoses and two new gas control valves were also supplied and installed.
This completed the required connections between the LPG supply and the two converted commercial fryers.
Testing the Converted Deep Fryers
Once the appliance conversion and gas pipework modifications were complete, both fryers were tested and commissioned.
A gas detector was used to check the modified gas connections for leaks as part of the testing process.
Because further kitchen renovation work was still planned, the fryers were then disconnected after commissioning rather than being left connected during the renovation.
Preparing the Commercial Kitchen for LPG
The completed project allowed the existing commercial deep fryers to be converted for the property's new LPG supply arrangement rather than replacing the appliances solely because the fuel source had changed.
The work included the LPG injectors and regulators within the fryers as well as the hoses, control valves and copper pipework required to connect them to the LPG supply.
Once the kitchen renovations are ready for the appliances, the converted fryers can form part of the new LPG-powered kitchen setup.
