Improving Water Control Around the Shower Areas
Our team attended a property in Hornsby NSW 2077 to complete several targeted repairs across the main bathroom and powder room.
The work included replacing the existing shower fittings, improving water containment around the main shower screen and repairing deteriorated grout between the bathroom floor tiles.
Rather than undertaking a larger bathroom renovation, the focus was on repairing the specific components that required attention while retaining the existing bathroom infrastructure.
Replacing the Shower Fittings
The existing shower head and hose arrangements in both bathrooms were removed and replaced with new shower roses.
This refreshed the water-delivery points without disturbing the concealed plumbing or surrounding tiled surfaces.
In the main bathroom, a new water seal deflector was also installed along the base of the shower screen.
The deflector helps direct water running down the shower glass back towards the wet area, reducing the amount of water escaping onto the surrounding bathroom floor.
Repairing the Floor Grout with Epoxy
The floor-tile joints also required attention.
The affected existing grout was removed before new epoxy grout was applied. Epoxy grout provides a durable, moisture-resistant finish suited to tiled areas regularly exposed to water.
It is important to distinguish grout maintenance from bathroom waterproofing. Grout forms part of the finished tiled surface, while the waterproofing membrane sits underneath. Maintaining deteriorated grout helps preserve the tiled finish and keeps the bathroom easier to maintain.
Targeted Repairs Without a Full Bathroom Renovation
For this Hornsby property, the work addressed several smaller issues without unnecessarily replacing serviceable bathroom components.
The new shower roses refreshed the shower fittings, the screen deflector improved water containment and the epoxy grout repaired deteriorated floor joints.
