A heavy-duty exterior-grade sealant was applied behind the flashing to create a continuous weather-resistant barrier. The flashing was then carefully trimmed and formed to suit the existing junction.
Flexible flashing is useful in areas where different building materials meet because it can accommodate minor movement while continuing to provide protection against water penetration.
The completed repair helps direct rainwater away from the vulnerable junction and reduces the opportunity for moisture to track behind the external cladding.
Completing and Testing the Repairs
Once the new shower mixer had been installed, the water supply was restored and all accessible plumbing connections were checked for leaks. The shower mixer was tested to confirm correct operation and reliable hot and cold water control.
The external flashing and sealing work was also completed and checked before the work areas were cleaned.
