Pipe relining the solution to recurring blocked drains

blog post feature

Blocked drains are a serious problem when they occur. While you might think a blocked drain is only a minor problem, if left untreated it’s the kind of plumbing problem that can escalate quickly and become even more problematic if it’s not taken care of promptly. It’s only natural that over time the drainage system in any home will become damaged and can end up becoming blocked, so proper drain maintenance is important in any home to allow the water flow system to function effectively.

Repairing damaged drains

Many homeowners think that clearing a blocked drain is something that will involve digging up portions of a property or even having to remove parts of a home itself just to clear the drainage. But don’t worry – there are plenty of methods we can use before it comes to such drastic measures.

A popular technique that we use to clear a blocked drain without the need for excavation is called pipe relining. This plumbing technique can be performed without too much interference to the homeowner’s property. Plus, it’s suitable for both domestic & commercial plumbing.

In the past, the only way to fix blocked or broken pipes, and drainage systems were to dig them up. But of course, this can cause a huge amount of disruption, not to mention the cost. Pipe relining offers a simple, quick, and reliable way to fix those cracked, root-infested, or leaking pipes.

So how does pipe relining work?

  1. We measure the length of liner required.
  2. We cut a piece of flexible, seamless liner to length.
  3. We impregnate it with resin.
  4. We position one end of the liner over your drain or waste.
  5. Using compressed air we invert the liner into the old sewer pipe.
  6. The compressed air forces the flexible liner to follow all the contours of the pipe - adhering to the inner walls - even if there are two different pipe diameters.
  7. We then pump hot water through the pipe to make the resin set.
